In 2005 the Elgin Church was given a new name! Because the building no longer functions as a sanctified church, using the name the"Elgin Church" sometimes caused confusion. We have chosen "Kelso Hall" as the name; it seems appropriate to us because of the Kelso Cemetery across the road from the church and because the area in the vicinity of the church was at one time known as Kelso. And we think "Kelso Hall" has a good sound.
The project, however, has not changed. The committee is again planning a dynamic season that will include, along with some surprises, a variety of musical concerts, a rhubarb social, country and western evenings and movies to suit many tastes. A calendar of events is now available online at:
  www.kelsohall.com
The past two seasons have been very successful. Due to the generosity of our sponsors and to those who supported us by attending the events we were able to paint and repair the front entranceway, install a stage wall and curtain, continue repointing work on the brick, carry out additional electrical work and repair and paint the steeple. And in 2004, for the first time, we had the use of the downstairs where we were able to hold the art exhibit at the rhubarb social.
The "Kelso Hall" centre for community and cultural events is organized and run by volunteers; their goodwill and energy make it all possible. We hope that you will consider contributing to this exciting project for the 2006 season.
With your help, we can all continue to experience the beauty and the wonderful acoustics of this building. With each annual donation you will receive one or more free passes to an event during the season. Corporate sponsors will receive free advertising in our summer program; donations must be received no later than March 24th for inclusion. All donations will be acknowledged by a tax receipt.
